It was the first Brazilian city to be built (1897) upon an urban
plan. At present, the city has 2,5 milion inhabitants. Belo Horizonte
is the country’s second industrial center, producing steel,
cement, automobiles and exporting iron ore, manganese, nickel, uranium
and precious stones.
Highlights:
Pampulha Lake: a district where one can see the first works by the
archictect Niemeyer, landscape projects by Burle Marx and paintings
by Portinari. This district is looked upon as an early example of
contempory architecture in Brazil, which reached its climax in Brasilia.
Visit the Church of Saint Francis of Assissi, Museum of Art and
the Soccer Stadium.

Congonhas contains important works from the Golden Age of Brazil.
The main points of interest are Aleijadinho’s sculptural masterpieces
of the twelve Prophets, carved in soapstone and his sculptural representation

woodwork. The set of life-sized sculptures is Brazil’s greatest
artistic treasure.

A stop will be made at the Butantan snake farm, a world known institution
where snakes are kept for poison extraction, which later is used
as antidote against snake bites and tropical disease.
A stop for the photo lovers will be made at the top of Morumbi hill,
a panoramic view of the upper part of the city can be seen. At the
Morumbi area, you will visit (the outside only) of the state government
Palace Morumbi, and soccer stadium of São Paulo, as well
as the residential area of Europe Garden.
One of the highlight’s of the tour is the Ibirapuera Park
with beautiful gardens and lakes. At the entrance to this park,
visitors can admire the famous monument of the Bandeirantes by victor
brecheret. To the left of this monument is situated the moderm chamber
of deputies building. Inside the park is the monument of the constitutionalist
soldier, a mausoleum in memory of those republicans who fell in
1932 revolution.
There is also the city hall, the planetarium and the Bienal, where
exhibitions of international art can be seen the whole year. You
will pass also by Praça da Republica, Itália building,
Praça Roosevelt and Paulista Avenue.

Full Day Tour to Corcovado and Sugar Loaf
Duration: 8 hours
This is an excellent option to see the best of Rio if time is limited.
In only one day you may visit Corcovado and Sugar Loaf. In the morning
a visit to Christ Statue at Corcovado mountain taking the cog train
through the luxuriant rain Forest. Enjoy the spectacular views of
Rio and the surrounding countryside.
After the morning tour, relax and enjoy lunch at a seafood restaurant.
In the afternoon, join he Sugar Loaf tour, driving by downtown Rio,
with its fine colonial-style portuguese buildings, and continuing
on to the cable car at Prai Vermelha ( red beach).
A ride to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain gives the visitor a wonderful
view of the city nestling between the mountains and the sea, and
the sight of the sun going down over Copacabana beach is magical.

From any place of the city, the visitor can see the most beautiful
postcard of Rio de Janeiro: Christ the Redeemer statue in the mountain
of Corcovado, located at 710 meters above the sea level and inaugurated
in 1931.
This tour begins in Cosme Velho's neighborhood from where the cog
train starts a trip through the Tijuca Forest, the largest urban
forest in the world, up to the statue.
Once there, a panoramic and extraordinary view of Rio will be seeing
including the Sugar Loaf, the Guanabara Bay, the beaches of Southern
Zone and the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon.
After the visit of the Corcovado, the tour will continue to São
Conrado area with a brief stop at the Pepino beach from where you
can appreciate the flight of the hang gliding .
Half Day Tour to the Sugar Loaf
Duration: 04 hours
This tour begins with a city panoramic view through downtown Rio,
passing by the Sambodrome, the Metropolitan Cathedral, in pyramid
form, with internal diameter of 96 meters and height of 80 meters.
Get to know the traditional Cinelândia square with the historical
buildings, the Municipal Theater, the National Library and the National
Museum of Fine Arts. By taking the Aterro do Flamengo, you will
be taken to the neighborhood of Urca where it is located one of
the largest symbols of the city: the Sugar Loaf. This visit is made
in two steps by cable car.
The first cable car takes passengers to Urca Hill which is 215 meters
high and from where one can have a beautiful view from the Guanabara
Bay and its islands, the Rio-Niterói bridge and Corcovado
hill. From this stage, a second cable car will be taken up to the
top with 395 meters to find a splendid view from Copacabana beach,
the Santa Cruz fortress and some beaches of Niterói.

The city of Itacuruçá, located 1 ½ hour away
from Rio de Janeiro, in the district of Mangaratiba, has among the

boat that looks like a schooner, cruises the Sepetiba Bay, an area
rich in natural beauty, where it is normal to spot a flora and fauna
as dolphins, giant king-fisher, parrots, turtle and sting-rays.
A stop is made for a swim and then the saveiro continues to the
island of Itacuruça where a delicious lunch self-service
