MACUCO SAFARI - Iguazu Falls
The big adventure begins at the Macuco Safari entrance gates, located at kilometer 25 of the Cataratas Highway inside the Iguassu National Park, with embarkation in open jeep-towed wagons that permit an unobstructed view of the scenery along the trail. During the stretch of three kilometers through the jungle, multi-lingual guides point out examples of the flora and fauna of the Park. Orchids, palm trees, bromeliads, centenarian trees, as well as wild animals that occasionally cross the trail are pointed out by the guides. The hike - The second stage, a stretch of 600 meters (optional), is a hike on a trail that leads to a waterfall baptized "Macuco Falls". The waterfall - perfect for a refreshing dip on days of intense heat - spills down from a height of approximately 20 meters. Access is via a stairway carved into the ancient rock. The last stop is the Macuco Safari docks on the Brazilian side of the Iguazu River. In the water, inflatable bi-motor boats, constructed to withstand the rigors of the excursion, are secure and efficient vessels. Before embarkation, passengers receive life-vests and plastic containers in which to protect photographic and filming equipment. The boat travels up-river passing the canyon facing the rapids at a speed that permits the appreciation of the scenery. Rocks, animals and a lot of greenery completes the scenery until the base of the fall is reached, next to the "great horseshoe" know as the "Devil's Throat". Waterfall shower - Rainbows, blue sky, mist and water in profusion, punctuate the spectacle that has as its high-point the area of the fall baptized "The Three Musketeers". There the captain maneuvers the boat in order to get close enough to provide the passengers with a quick and refreshing shower. The last stop is the Macuco Safari docks, on the banks of the Iguaçu River, where the last and most enticing part of the excursion begins. The vesselThe fleet of boats used for the excursion on the Iguaçu River mentioned above is being renovated, two new vessels developed especially for the region. They are models SR760, endowed with anti-pollutant motors, which were produced with imported material to guarantee durability and excellent performance. The new boats, baptized Macuco Safari VII and VIII are very spacious, with the capacity to accommodate 22 passengers in individual seats and an additional 5 passengers on the U-shaped sofa installed in the prow. The structure is entirely reinforced. For the greater passenger security a handrail was added around the entire boat. The boats left the factory equipped with two extinguishers, two circular buoys and floats with independent air chambers (if one is punctured, the remaining five guarantee flotation). Of the many accessories, attention is drawn by the two Mercury Optimax motors, recommended by international environmental bodies The equipment has been certified as anti-pollutant in the category of motors with rates of pollution emission inferior to the minimum permitted.
