Skiing and Snowboarding Facilities at Las Leñas
La Leñas constitutes one of the most important ski centres in Argentina and South America. With snow of an excellent quality, this centre posseses 40 ski runs with a skiing area of 3800 has. it also includes magnificent surfaces for the free, cross-country and extreme styles of skiing. It has 12 modern ski lifts, with a transport capacity of 10.000 skiers per hour The lower runs posses canyons with artificial snow that guarantee permanent snow. The services offered to the skiers comprise: skiing school (all levels), ski keeping house, children care, equipment rental, repairing shops, medical service, among others.
The BaseThe Base is the highest ski centre in Argentina. It has an unevenness of 1100 metres. The top is 3430 above sea level and the tracks go down in wide slopes to the foot of the mountain (2250 mts a.s.l).
SnowThe snow is well known for its quality, a consequence of the dry climate. There's powder in abundance from June to October. Annual snowfall in the base is 1,50 metres and 3,50 metres in the top. Snow depth average is 0,50m in the base, 1m in the INTERMEDIATEte part and 1,50m in the top. The lower tracks have canyons made of artificial snow that guarantee the existence of snow all year long.
LiftsLas Lenas has the most modern lift system in South America. Lift lines are extremely rare at Las Lenas. The valley has 12 lifts that cover more than 13 km, 7 chairlifts, 1 quadruple chairlift and 6 double chairlifts that can transport up to 10,000 skiers per hour. Four lifts start in the base, Venus, Eros I, Eros II and Vesta that take skiers quickly to the desired sector. These work from 9am to 5pm (8 hours). There's a teleski school, directed by qualified people, at the foot of the hill that is free and used by beginners to learn how to use it.
Tracks – Ski areasThere are 39 tracks made for all levels, 65 km in total; 3,800 hectares of snow that cover 1,230 metres. The tracks are distributed according to skiers' level: green for those that are just learning (5 km), blue for intermediate (15 km), red for advanced skiers (20km) and black for experts (24km). The resort has a Snowboard Park, with jumps and halfpipes, located at the foot of the mountain. It has Argentina's longest uninterrupted track (7,050 metres), a combination of tracks Apolo, Neptuno and Venus. Track Eros has an excellent lighting system, which allows a continuous practice even after nightfall.
TrailsMore than sixty kilometers of runs provide skiers and snowboarders with descents of varying difficulties suitable for skiers and riders of all abilities, from a height of 11,253 feet above sea level to the base at at elevation of 7,349 feet. The vertical drop of the lift-served in-bounds area of Las Lenas ski resort is a hefty 4,035 feet, with gradients ranking from 12% to 53%.
