With a built up area of 1200 m² the eco museum is the most important centre for the development of environmental education in the region of Foz do Iguassu - Brazil.
It is the first of its kind in Latin America. Its objectives are to use the Itaipu reservoir to demonstrate the relationship between mankind and his impact on the environment and to show how mankinds heritage involved the interlinking of science, culture and technology.

The temporary exhibitions deal with subjects which relate to Itaipu and neighbouring municipalities; they include: Partnerships with other hydroelectric schemes and their projects to protect the environment, programs to develop economically self supporting projects, education and culture.
Collaboration between the neighbouring municipalities, groups representing the community, the cultural foundation and the associations of the different districts is resulting in the development of various cultural activities.
