CLASSIC PERU (15 Days / 14 Nights)

Peru, known worldwide by the majestic Machu Picchu and the Inca culture hides still immense cultural wealth, for all to discover. We give a glance to the north to know cultures that for hundreds of years have left an incredible cultural and historic legacy to the world. The colossal pyramids of the Sun and of the Moon, sanctuary of the Mochica culture; the immense city made with mud of Chan Chan, cradle of the Chimú kingdom; the ruins of Kuntur Wasi, with a local museum rich in gold jewels, the Incan remains in Cajamarca and its beautiful landscapes of this Andean region; the Tombo of the Lord of Sipán and the pyramids of Túcume in Chiclayo; the majestic Royal Tombs Museum, unique in the world, and the ruins of the Xaxapoyas culture in Gran Vilaya, high sector of the Amazonian forest, are some of the beauties that this unusual and amazing trip offer.
For those that have time, we can offer extensions to Machu Picchu or other localities.


DAY 01       ARRIVAL AT LIMA

Transfer airport/hotel. Overnight.

DAY 02       LIMA

American breakfast. Morning is at leisure. In the afternoon, a city tour and the Anthropological and Archaeological National Museum. Overnight.

DAY 03       LIMA / TRUJILLO

Transfer to the city of Trujillo through the Panamericana Norte Highway (560 Km). During the journey, we will observe from the vehicle the Fortress of Paramonga and we will visit the Sechin Temple remains. Continuing our route, we will cross the city of Chimbote, known as the capital of fishing and the Peruvian steel. We will arrive at Trujillo at 18:00 hours approximately. Overnight.

DAY 04       TRUJILLO

American breakfast. Full day dedicated to the City of de Trujillo, visiting its Cathedral and a big house from the Republican Age. Then, we will visit Huacas del Sol y de la Luna, important ceremonial temples from Moche culture.
Seafood lunch on the beach, in the district of Huanchaco, from where comes the famous "caballitos de totora" (totora reed rafts) used by old Peruvian fishermen. Then, we will visit the world's greatest citadel made with adobe (sun-dried clay brick); that belongs to the Chimú dominion (pre-Incan Age, known as Chan Chan. Overnight.

DAY 05       TRUJILLO / CAJAMARCA

American breakfast. Transfer to the city of Cajamarca. During the trip, we will appreciate the dam of Gallito Ciego and the towns of Tembladera (400 masl) and Chilete (860 masl). From this last one, we will take a detour to visit the ruins and museum of Kuntur Wasi (Condor House).
We will depart to Cajamarca, crossing the towns of Magdalena (1,300 masl) and San Juan (2,224 masl). Before we descend to the city, we will cross the highest pass of our route, called Gavilán at 3,050 masl. Our arrival to Cajamarca is at 17:00 hours approximately. Overnight.

DAY 06       CAJAMARCA

American breakfast. Full day dedicated to the City of Cajamarca and its outskirts, visiting the historical downtown of the Main Square and the famous "Cuarto del rescate" (The Ramson Room), that according to the chroniclers, Inca Atahualpa offered to fill with gold once and with silver twice to obtain his freedom.
During visits a box lunch will be served.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Necropolis of Otuzco, tombs carved on rocks from the pre-Incan Age and the complex of Cumbemayo, magical and mystical stone forest, where the old inhabitants of the zone made an incredible work of hydraulic engineering, carving channels on the rocks. Overnight.

DAY 07       CAJAMARCA / CHICLAYO

American breakfast. Transfer to the city of Chiclayo. During the route, we will visit the town of San José de Moro to visit its little museum that lodges a replica of a particular burial. Arrival at Chiclayo. In the afternoon, a visit to the Royal Tombs Museum, where is located the excavate collection of the Lord of Sipán and the Huaca Rajada archaeological place, where was found worldwide this famous tomb. Overnight.

DAY 08       CHICLAYO

American breakfast. Visit to the Sicán Didactic Museum, built by a Japanese mission and that shows the ability of the best old Peruvian smiths. In one of its rooms, the director of this museum will offer us a conference about this culture: its story, gold and silversmith and its mysterious and unexplainable burials.
Then, we will visit Batán Grande, where we will appreciate a millenarian carob tree and the Huaca del Loro or del Oro, where the Mission found the pieces for the museum. Lunch in a restaurant or box lunch.
Continuing our route, we will visit the Túcume monumental complex. Overnight

DAY 09       CHICLAYO / CHACHAPOYAS

American breakfast. Transfer to the City of Chachapoyas by private transport (336 Km.) At arrival, a short city tour and lodging in the hotel. Overnight.

DAY 10       CHACHAPOYAS / EL CHILLO

American breakfast. In the morning, a visit to the tombs of Carajía. In the afternoon, transfer to Casa Hacienda El Chillo (rustic lodge). Dinner and overnight.

DAY 11       EL CHILLO / REVASH / EL CHILLO

After breakfast, departure to Revash, for a 1 hour trip by private transport and 2 hours on foot along the Santo Tomas River. At Revash, we will find mausoleums and little houses built on the top of a cliff, dominating the valley. Then, we will visit the Centro Mallqui Museum that lodges 219 mummies and archaeological pieces rescued from Lago de los Cóndores. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 12       EL CHILLO / KUELAP / EL CHILLO

After breakfast, transfer to the most important attractions of the region, the Kuelap archaeological complex. This complex is located on a rocky top at 3000 masl. Return to Chachapoyas and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 13       EL CHILLO / CHACHAPOYAS / CHICLAYO

After breakfast, departure to the city of Chiclayo by private transport. At arrival transfer to the hotel. Ovenight.

DAY 14       CHICLAYO / LIMA

After breakfast, transfer to the airport and flight to Lima. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight.

DAY 15       LIMA OUT

American breakfast. Transfer hotel/airport.
